Using noot
- You must be at least 13. If you’re under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian.
- If you use noot for a business, club or school, you confirm you’re allowed to accept these terms for it.
- You don’t need an account (see Accounts). Whoever creates a room owns it and can make other people admins, editors or viewers. Keep your recovery link safe: it’s the only way back in as the owner if you lose access, and we can’t recover rooms for you.
Your content
- You keep ownership of what you add to rooms. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, display and transmit it, only as needed to run noot for you and the people in your rooms.
- You’re responsible for what you add, and you confirm you have the right to add it, including any images, links and embeds.
- Public and view-only rooms can be opened by anyone with the link. You choose who can get in, and you’re responsible for that choice.
- New rooms are end-to-end encrypted with a key that only exists in their links and your browsers. We can’t read them, and if the links are lost we can’t recover them. Keep your recovery link safe.
- Keep your own copies of anything important. Use Export as JSON or Copy room as text from the room menu.
Things you must not do
- Post content that is illegal, defamatory, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, violent, or that exploits or endangers children.
- Share other people’s personal information without their permission, or impersonate anyone.
- Infringe copyright, trade marks or other rights.
- Send spam, scams, phishing, malware or links to them.
- Damage, vandalise or disrupt rooms you don’t own, including deleting or defacing other people’s content in public rooms.
- Claim room names or short links in bulk, or hold them without real use, in order to sell them, block others or impersonate a brand. We may reassign or free names held this way.
- Use bots, scripts or automated tools to create rooms, edit rooms or scrape noot; get around access controls, rate limits or security checks; or try to break or overload the service.
- Use noot to store passwords, payment card details, health records or other highly sensitive information.
What we can do
- We may remove content, rooms or short links, or limit access, if we reasonably believe they break these terms or the law, or put people or noot at risk. Where it’s practical and safe, we’ll tell the room’s owner.
- We may change, add or remove features, or stop offering noot, and we’ll try to give reasonable notice of major changes.
- We may remove rooms that have been empty and unused for a long time.
Reporting a problem
To report content that breaks these terms, or a copyright complaint, email [email protected] with the room link and what’s wrong. We’ll look into it promptly.
Our service
noot is free and provided as is and as available. We work hard to keep it running and your rooms safe, but we don’t promise it will always be available, error-free or that content can never be lost.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that can’t be excluded. Where we’re allowed to limit our liability for a failure to meet a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.
To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profit or revenue, arising from your use of noot, and we aren’t responsible for content other people add or for third-party services embedded in rooms.
Accounts
You don’t need an account to use noot. If you make one (with Google, Apple, or an email and password), you’re responsible for keeping your sign-in safe, and for what happens through it. Rooms you join or make while signed in are listed on your account. You can delete your account at any time from its page; rooms you own stay, with the people in them, unless you delete them first.
Noot+
Noot+ is a one-time purchase for your account. Noot+ covers up to 10 of your rooms and Noot+ Pro up to 100; you choose which rooms (ones you’re an admin of) and can move it from one to another. It doesn’t move to another account. Purchases are sold and handled by Paddle, our reseller and merchant of record, whose buyer terms also apply to the payment. Refunds work as set out in our refund policy (below). If a payment is refunded or reversed, your account goes back to what it had before, and rooms beyond what’s left of your plan go back to the free features; what they already have stays. Rooms that bought Noot+ on their own before accounts keep it. We may remove Noot+ from an account or room that breaks these terms. We may also give Noot+ to a room for free.
Refunds
Ask within 14 days of paying and you get a full refund, no reason needed; after that we look at each request fairly. The refund policy has the details and how to ask.
Launch offer
For a limited time, and for a limited number of purchases (the number left is shown on the offer), you can choose what to pay for Noot+, from US$1 to US$1,000. Whatever you pay, you get the same Noot+, on the terms above. After the offer, Noot+ and Noot+ Pro are the prices shown on the pricing page. Prices are in US dollars and include any tax that applies where you are, which Paddle works out at checkout. The offer ends when the places run out or when we end it, and it doesn’t change anything already bought. “Lifetime” means for as long as your account (or, for a room that bought Noot+ on its own, that room) exists and noot runs.
Third-party services
Rooms can embed or link to other services, such as YouTube, Google, Figma or Spotify. Your use of those is governed by their own terms. See the privacy policy for the providers noot itself uses.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We’ll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we’ll make it clear on the site. If you keep using noot after a change, you accept the new terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and you and we submit to the courts of that state.
